As members of the royal family, Prince William and Kate Middleton tend to keep their relationship fairly private—however, for Valentine’s Day, the couple shared a rare tribute to their relationship in the form of a sweet, never-before-seen couple’s photo. The black-and-white photo, taken by Josh Shinner, seeing the couple sitting together in the grass in coordinated outdoorsy looks. William wore a ribbed sweater over a white button-down, while his wife matched him in a white ruffled shirt, a sweeter, and a tweed blazer. She wore her long brown hair in soft waves and a side part.
“Happy Valentine’s Day 💕,” read the caption.
William and Middleton met in 2001 at the University of St. Andrews and married a decade later in 2011. Since then, they’ve welcomed three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The family recently went through a difficult time when Middleton was diagnosed with cancer in 2024.
Although William said the time was “brutal,” they are now in a much happier place following the 2025 announcement that Middleton is in remission.
They seem more loved-up than ever,” royal historian Amanda Foreman recently told People of their current dynamic.
“He treats her like his bride,” she went on. “What they have been through over the last few years has been so terrible. That either drives couples apart or, in their case, it brings them together. It irons out the kinks and enables them to see each other clearly.”
Just last month, the pair had a subtle PDA moment while on a joint outing in Scotland when William placed his hand on Middleton’s back.
The couple moved to Forest Lodge at the end of last year in a “reset.” “After such rough times, it’s perfectly understandable they would want a new place,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People.
