Prince William, Kate Middleton issue emotional statement after heartbreaking loss

Prince William and Kate Middleton paid tribute to 17-year-old teenager Liz Hatton, who passed away after a battle with an incurable desmoplastic small round cell tumour.

The Prince and Princess of Wales issued the emotional statement for Hatton, whom they helped in completing one of her wishes from her bucket list of photography assignments which she wanted to complete in the final months of her life.

In an official statement, the couple said, “We are so sorry to hear that Liz Hatton has sadly passed away.”

“It was an honour to have met such a brave and humble young woman,” the Royals added.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Liz’s parents Vicky and Aaron and her brother Mateo at this unimaginably difficult time. W & C.”

William and Kate met Hatton in October after they invited her to photograph an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, hosted by the Prince of Wales.

They later asked her to join them for tea and took pictures with her, one of which went viral featuring Kate and Hatton sharing an emotional hug.

According to reports, Hatton died peacefully at her home less than a year after being diagnosed with the rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Speaking with The Mail, Hatton’s mother, Vicky Robayna, said, “Our lovely Liz died in the early hours of this morning. She remained determined to her last.”

“I could not be prouder of her. She has faced every day with unbelievable bravery. And now it’s our turn to do her proud and give her brother the life she expects us to.

“She was never scared of dying but she was terrified of leaving him behind. It’s our job to make that a little easier for her.”
