Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather moved to a hospice in devastating family news before Chiefs vs Bills showdown
Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather has been moved to a hospice in heartbreaking news for the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, a little over 48 hours until he plays for a place in the Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is heading into one of the biggest games of the season with some heartbreaking personal news. The NFL superstar’s grandfather, Randy, has entered hospice care, according to an emotional announcement from Patrick’s mother, Randi Mahomes.
Taking to social media on January 24, 2025, just two days before the highly anticipated AFC Championship showdown against the Buffalo Bills, Randi shared the difficult update. “My dad is in hospice & I’m lost for words ,” she wrote, accompanying her post with a touching photo of herself and her father and a reference to the biblical passage Colossians 3:20.
This development isn’t entirely unexpected, as Randy’s health has been a concern for the Mahomes family for some time. Back in September 2024, Randi had reached out to her social media followers with an urgent request: “Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy. He is in the hospital and is not well.. his name is Randy.” Just last month, she made another heartfelt plea for prayers for her father
The timing is particularly poignant as Patrick and the Chiefs prepare for what could be a historic playoff run. While the three-time Super Bowl champion hasn’t publicly commented on his grandfather’s condition, he’ll surely be carrying this personal weight as he faces off against Josh Allen and the Bills on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
