“Good luck on clay, everybody”: Former Serena Williams coach confident in Iga Swiatek’s 2025 clay dominance
Rennae Stubbs is confident that Iga Swiatek will enjoy another successful clay swing after her Australian Open semifinal disappointment. The world No. 2 had been on an impressive run in Melbourne, dropping just 14 games in five matches (and only seven in the four matches before the semifinals).
However, she ran into an inspired Madison Keys, who saved a match point to advance to the final, where she later secured her first Grand Slam trophy by defeating Aryna Sabalenka in three sets. Once again, Swiatek fell short in Australia.
Despite the loss, the five-time Grand Slam champion can take positives from her strong performances on hard courts at the start of the year, dominating players like Emma Raducanu (6-1, 6-0) and Emma Navarro (6-1, 6-2).
