Former NFL coach makes prediction about Chiefs’ future that will make Mahomes and Travis Kelce cry
Aformer head coach of the Buffalo Bills tips the Kansas City Chiefs to be dumped out of the NFL Playoffs at the first time of asking because of how many close calls they’ve had throughout the 2024/25 season.
Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s team have won 11 games this campaign but an astonishing nine of them have been one-score games, including against the struggling Carolina Panthers and Las Vegas Raiders (twice)
Impressively, the Chiefs always manage to find an answer to just about sneak through with a win but Rex Ryan thinks it’s unsustainable and they will be exposed when the NFL Playoffs finally get underway.
“I’ve seen teams like this before,” Ryan, who also coached the New York Jets, told Sunday NFL Countdown. “They get beat in the first round.”
But not every team are three-time Super Bowl champions with a generation-defining quarterback at the helm, and with the context of injuries to Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, Isiah Pacheco and the absence of Clyde Edwards-Helaire throughout the year, their form has been relentless.
So it’s perhaps no surprise that the 29-year-old QB actually tips there to be a lot more to come from the Kansas City Chiefs as they look to finally get their offense going in the latter half of the season.
“We don’t feel like we’re playing our best football,” Mahomes told reporters on November 29. “Too many mistakes. We’ve got to clean that up to get where we want to go.”
