Donald Trump News: Bondi Opens Epstein Probe Into Trump’s Political Adversaries
Attorney General Pam Bondi has announced a federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s ties to several of Donald Trump’s political opponents.
Bondi named Jay Clayton, the interim U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, to lead the probe.
The investigation comes just hours after Trump publicly urged her to look into Epstein’s links to high-profile Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton.
Trump also called for scrutiny of other figures he named — Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman, among others.
Bondi defended her choice, calling Clayton “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country” and promising the inquiry will be pursued “with urgency and integrity.”
This announcement represents a departure from a July DOJ/FBI memo which stated that investigators “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation” of uncharged third parties.
The move is widely seen as politically charged — Trump has framed the Epstein files controversy as a “Democrat hoax.”
