Prince Harry Opens Up About His British Pride in Moving Essay — ‘Though Currently I May Live in the U.S.’

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has once again captured the world’s attention — not through controversy or headlines, but through heartfelt honesty. In a newly published essay, the prince reflects on his British roots, his life in the United States, and the unshakable bond he still feels to the country of his birth.

“Though currently I may live in the U.S.,” Harry wrote, “my heart will always carry the values, traditions, and humor that shaped me in Britain. That’s something that never leaves you.”

The essay, part of a broader project on global identity and belonging, strikes a tone that blends nostalgia with acceptance. For Harry, life in America — alongside his wife Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet — represents a new chapter, not a departure from who he truly is.

“I’ve learned that identity isn’t about where you sleep,” he continued. “It’s about where your character was built. And mine was built on the rugby fields, countryside, and community spirit of the U.K.”

Royal watchers have praised the Duke’s candor, calling the essay “his most grounded and introspective piece yet.” It offers rare insight into the inner world of a man who has spent much of his adult life balancing royal tradition with personal freedom.

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry has often faced criticism for distancing himself from the monarchy. Yet his essay reveals that his connection to the United Kingdom remains strong — defined not by duty, but by gratitude.

He also hinted at how fatherhood has deepened that connection. “When I teach my children about where I come from,” he wrote, “I want them to understand the warmth of British humor, the resilience of its people, and the beauty of its rain — yes, even the rain.” ☔

The essay concludes on a note of reconciliation:

> “No matter where life leads, Britain will always be a part of me — not just by title, but by heart.”

For many readers, it’s a reminder that beneath the royal headlines and global spotlight lies a man still searching for balance — between heritage and home, past and present, Britain and America. ❤️
