How Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Preparing for Thanksgiving — with Archie and Lili’s Help

Thanksgiving in Montecito is shaping up to be a heartfelt, family-first celebration for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. While the couple has built new traditions far from the U.K., this year’s holiday plans are said to be especially meaningful — with two excited little helpers making sure everything feels festive.

According to those close to the family, Archie and Lilibet are “front and center this Thanksgiving,” contributing in ways only young children can: enthusiasm, creativity, and a little chaos.

A Hands-On Holiday at Home

Rather than hosting a glamorous gathering or attending a high-profile event, Meghan and Harry are expected to keep Thanksgiving intimate. Meghan, who has always cherished home cooking and seasonal décor, is reportedly preparing a warm, comforting menu rooted in California flavors — think seasonal vegetables, farm-to-table ingredients, and plenty of spices.

But this year, she’s not the only chef in the kitchen.
Archie is helping stir, sprinkle, and “taste-test,” while Lilibet is adorably in charge of handing out (and occasionally dropping) ingredients.

Building Traditions for Their Children

One of Harry and Meghan’s biggest priorities is giving their children a sense of tradition. Thanksgiving has become one of the holidays they’ve fully embraced as an American family.

This includes:

Crafting handmade decorations

Reading Thanksgiving-themed children’s books

Preparing small “gratitude notes” together

Going on a morning walk through Montecito’s nature trails

A friend of the couple shared that “Harry loves the quiet of the day — it’s become one of his favorite U.S. traditions.”

A Table Filled with Meaning

While the gathering will remain private, it’s expected to include a few close friends and possibly Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. The vibe is less royal formality and more cozy-country warmth — candles, soft lighting, and a big family table where the kids can proudly display their crafts.

For Harry, who has often spoken about wanting to create a peaceful, grounded life for his children, these holidays are part of building the life he’s always wanted.

A Moment of Gratitude

Sources say the couple is especially reflective this year, focusing on gratitude, health, and the joy of raising their young family. Archie and Lili may not fully understand the holiday yet, but the memories being created — flour-covered hands, laughter in the kitchen, a house that smells like cinnamon and roasted vegetables — will last them a lifetime.

As one insider put it:
“It’s not about the feast — it’s about the four of them being together.”
